This is a very common and important question that high school students and parents ask themselves when planning for college.
Going Merry knows how essential it is to compare colleges when considering what school to attend, especially since choosing the best college can be stressful. With that in mind, we've made it easy for students to compare colleges by cost, major, location, admissions, academics, and student life by creating a College Comparison tool!
To get started, sign up for a Going Merry account and navigate to the Explore Colleges tab.
Browse Colleges
Browsing Colleges allows you to search, view, filter, and sort colleges based on different criteria. It’s a great way to explore options.
Under the Browse tab, enter your preferences.
Start by entering key details such as:
The name of a college
Intended major
Where you live
On the left, further filter your search to browse colleges by important factors such as
Average cost
Value
Distance
Size
Acceptance Rate, and more!
👀Click on a college's name to see a comprehensive profile, which includes:
Financial details: Cost of Attendance
Student Life information: Location, Safety, Diversity, Athletics
Academics: Fields of Study, Graduation Rates
Admissions: Acceptance Rate
➜Click the "Save" button to add the college to your list of schools or click the "Compare" button to compare the college to others:
Compare Colleges
Comparing Colleges allows to you view a side-by-side analysis of multiple schools, making it easier to see differences at a glance.
Under the Compare tab, click the "+ Add College" button to start comparing colleges.
If you've already entered your major, or if you need to edit your major, click the "Intended Major" option to edit your major.
Start comparing the schools based on:
Financial Considerations (like the average cost of attendance)
Location
Academics
Admissions
Student Life
Tips:
Compare at least 3-5 colleges to get a well-rounded perspective.
Consider long-term factors like employment and graduation rates.
Start early – use the tool in your junior or early senior year to plan ahead.
Saved Schools
Save a school so it appears on your "Saved" list.
From here, keep track of the schools you're interested in or that you've applied to!
