Can I use more recent tax forms (or income) than the one specified?

In short, no. You must use your tax return from two years before the college academic year. For instance, if you’re applying for financial aid for 2025-2026, you must use your 2023 taxes. You cannot use your 2024 finances/taxes.

If your financial situation has significantly changed since the reported tax year, you can submit an “appeal letter” to your college, asking them to consider your more recent (current) financial situation instead of your situation from 2023.
