[FAFSA®] What is a “dislocated worker”?

A dislocated worker is someone who is unemployed or underemployed not by choice.

You therefore don’t count as a “dislocated worker” if you decided to quit your job. “Underemployment” means that you are earning less or working fewer hours than you would like to. We will ask you specific questions to figure out whether you, your spouse, or your parents qualify as “dislocated workers.”
