When the federal government processes your FAFSA®, it needs to check that three key pieces of information match your FSA ID:

  1. Your name (which should be your full, legal name, as it appears on your Social Security Card)

  2. Your date of birth (DOB)

  3. Your Social Security Number (SSN)

If any of these are mismatching, you won't be able to sign your FAFSA with your FSA ID.

What if your date of birth for your FSA ID is wrong?

If you didn't use the correct date of birth for your FSA ID (but you did do it correctly on your FAFSA®), then you'll simply need to correct your FSA ID.

Log in to your studentaid.gov account.

Navigate to Account Settings.

Correct your information under Personal Information.
