[FAFSA®] What other federal grants are there, NOT covered by the FAFSA®? What about the TEACH Grant?

The main federal grant outside of FAFSA® is the TEACH Grant, which awards about $4,000 per year to undergraduate students who fulfill these three requirements:

  1. You’ll work in education: You plan to work full-time as a teacher at a low-income school (or work at an educational agency) for at least 4 years, within 8 years of graduation.

  2. You’ll teach a “high-need” subject, which is one of these: mathematics, science, including but not limited to, computer science, foreign language, bilingual education or English language acquisition, reading specialist.

  3. You have academic achievement: You scored in the 75th percentile (or above) for at least one section of a standardized test (SAT, ACT), AND you can maintain a 3.25 (or above) GPA in college

If this is you, you’ll be a good fit for the TEACH Grant program. To apply, you’ll need to complete a whole separate application process, which involves checking that your college participates, receiving TEACH Grant counseling, and signing a service agreement. Get more information here.
