If the recommendation letter instructions on your scholarship application gives you the option of adding additional letters, read on.

Sometimes, a scholarship application will say something like "One letter of recommendation is required. However, you can also attach a second recommendation. A second recommendation is entirely optional."

In this case, it might not appear to be obvious on the application page where you can link a second, optional letter of recommendation. Follow along below for a step-by-step guide (with screenshots!).

If you've already completed your first (required) recommendation letter, follow these instructions:

To attach a second (optional) recommendation, visit the Documents section of your scholarship application, and click the button that says "Attach more docs". Your screen will look like this:

Then, click the green link that says "request a recommendation letter someone", as shown here:

You'll then go through the same process as before for requesting a second recommender by entering their email, and a personal note if you'd like. Once they've uploaded and submitted the second recommendation letter, your scholarship application will show both have been completed, and it will look like this:

If your first (required) recommendation letter isn't completed, follow these instructions:

If your first letter hasn't been uploaded to your application yet, but you want to get a jump on your second, great! That might mean that your screen looks a little different – not to worry! You'll start by clicking the green link that says "Request from different recommender". You'll then complete another recommendation request by entering your recommender's email address, and any personal note you want to include as before.

Once you hit Send on the request, you'll see both in your application.

Then, as each of the recommenders complete their request, you'll see the status change as shown in the first example to say: "Uploaded by [email of recommender]".

That's it! Best of luck on your application πŸ‘
