Neither Going Merry nor FAFSA® will be able to tell you directly if you’re eligible for aid. Instead, each college you’re admitted to will make its own financial aid determination, based on your answers to the FAFSA®.

The college will then send you a financial aid award letter letting you know what aid they are offering you. The letter will also mention any merit scholarships that you have won.

Your overall financial aid package may include a blend of:

  • Federal or state grants (don’t need to repay)

  • College scholarships (don’t need to repay)

  • Work-study (need to work to earn it)

  • Federal loans - subsidized, unsubsidized, or Parent/Grad PLUS (need to repay after graduating)
