Once you have created your account, follow these steps (click the arrows below for more information about each step):

1. Complete your Profile 🧑‍🎓

After you login, click Menu > then Profile on the left. Fill out as much information as possible in each category. This allows us to match you to scholarships perfectly and save you time later by filling this information into any application you start.

You'll notice the Profile Completion meter on the left of your Profile will let you know if you're missing something from your profile. You want to get as close to 100% as possible so we can properly match you to scholarships.

2. Add supporting documents📄

In your Profile, scroll down to the Documents section, then click the “Upload Document" button. There you can select the document type and upload it from your computer. We recommend that you upload your transcript (unofficial is ok), at least one recommendation letter, and your FAFSA® Submission Summary as scholarship providers will often ask for these documents. If you upload them now, you can then attach them to applications later.

3. Request Recommendation Letters📮

In the Documents section of your Profile, you can also click “Request Document”. After that, you simply fill out your recommender’s email address, add a personal note, and click “Request Letter”. A lot of scholarships will require recommendation letters and it may take your recommenders time to write yours. Therefore we recommend requesting them immediately so they don’t hold you up later.

4. Check your Matched Scholarships✨

Now that your Profile is complete, we will match you with scholarships from our database. To view these, click Menu on the top left > click Scholarships > then click Find Scholarships.

5. Submit an application💰

To apply to a scholarship, click on the scholarship tile to view the scholarship's webpage. If you meet the eligibility requirements, click Start Application.

Answer any essay questions, attach any required documents and submit!

If your financial aid offer wasn't enough to cover your bill, we recommend you submit an appeal. Learn more about financial aid appeals here.

If you'll need a student loan to cover the rest, begin by researching the lender that will give you the best rate. Most private lenders allow you to answer a few questions risk-free and then get your estimated interest rate. You’re under no obligation to actually get the loan. We recommend checking with Earnest first. Get your rate estimate from Earnest here.
